Before participating in a game or practice session all WSSC coaches are required to preform safety check to comply with York Region Soccer Association’s, Ontario Soccer’s, Canada Soccer’s, and FIFA’s standards of participation

  1. Players must have on correct footwear, which means turf soccer shoes or soccer cleats (with plastic non-removable studs) for indoor or outdoor turf pitches, soccer cleats (with plastic non-removable studs) for outdoor grass pitches, and indoor futsal shoes for gym floors.

2. All players are required to have on soccer shin-pads regardless of if playing in a practice, game or even just a kick-around. Shin pads must be fully covered by soccer socks. Shin-pads and soccer socks must be worn regardless of the playing surface

Shin-pads are not required to have ankle protection, and players may choose to wear shin pads that also have ankle protection¬†or just shinpads with no ankle protection. We strongly recommend that all players in the Grass Roots ages (U8 – U12) wear shin-pads with ankle protection. Players U13 and above should research the benefits of both types before deciding to play with just shin-pads, commonly referred to as “striker-pads” by players and coaches.
